President Richardson Shows CC’s Influence on a National Stage
Have you ever wondered how higher ed issues make the news? Often it comes down to roundtable discussions among college presidents and members of the national news media. CC President L. Song Richardson recently kicked off the dinner conversation at The 6th Annual Presidents Dinner at the National Press Club in Washington D.C. on September 7.
Topics discussed on the record included the recent ban on affirmative action by the U.S. Supreme Court, DEI, rankings, AI/ChatGPT, and rethinking college admissions. The presidents of Bucknell, Amherst, Vassar, Wellesley, Fordham, and several other colleges and universities attended along with reporters from the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, the Chronicle of Higher Education, and many more.

ALUMNI IN COMMUNITY
Alumni Salon Dinner
On September 14, Rick Arthur ’89 and Nancy Arthur hosted at group of CC alumni and friends at their home in Brookville, Maryland. The evening was filled with good food and deep conversation. “It was such a great evening of community,” says CC Board Member Kyle Samuel ’91. “Everyone had amazing stories about their time at CC. How professors’ patience and the intimate environment gave them a voice.” Samuel says that the evening really focused on how CC allowed for access, opportunity, social mobility, and transformation. “CC has always been known as this well-kept secret. We no longer want to be a secret.” Evenings like this allow for real, personal engagement, helping pull together the CC alumni community. This is the first of what we hope will be many regional alumni dinners. If you’re interested in hosting or attending a future salon dinner, please contact Cindy Hyman or Warren Lloyd in CC’s Alumni Relations.
