In May, Will Myers ’26 competed for the second time at the USA Cycling Collegiate Road National Championships, representing CC. The competition, held this year in Madison, WI, is a three-day event that attracts some of the best cyclists in the country.
“Through my time at CC, I’ve been able to continue cycling at a high level thanks to the incredible support and understanding of my friends, professors, and the club sports faculty,” says Myers, a History major. “CC supports an environment where extracurricular activities are incredibly valued because there’s a recognition of just how important it is to strike that balance in your life. I’ve almost always felt like I had the time and space to devote the energy to cycling that it requires, which wouldn’t be possible without that encouragement.”
Myers represented CC at the event in 2024 in Albuquerque, NM and spent the past year training even harder to make it back.
“It always feels incredibly special to be able to represent CC at a national level,” he says. “The racing is always hard, but this year more than last, I felt more comfortable and confident coming into the event with more experience and fitness. While there’s lots at stake in competing, in many ways attending nationals is the ‘fun part’ of the season, where I get to reap the benefits of all the time and energy I put in and sacrifices I made over the winter and throughout the spring.”
After an unfortunate mechanical issue on the first day of this year’s competition that forced him to pull out of the race, Myers was able to bounce back strong, placing 13th in the criterium the following day.

“I felt like I had a good chance at winning had the finale of the race gone slightly differently which was bittersweet but will provide me with fuel in my training and racing going forward,” he says.
And now, Myers has his focus set on next year’s nationals, when he will return to Madison, WI to compete as a Tiger one last time. “It’ll be my last chance to bring a national title to CC, and I plan to be in top shape come May.”
