CC’s highly anticipated Annual Fashion Show made a stunning return on Friday, April 12, filling Cornerstone Arts Center with an atmosphere of creativity, playfulness, and pure fashion joy. The student-run event showcased the incredible talent and unique visions of student designers, while treating the audience to a night of unforgettable displays.

This year’s theme was “play,” and it was evident in every aspect of the show, from the whimsical designs to the lively music and dance numbers.

“I love organizing and hosting events, and I am excited to see CC people showcase their creativity and fashion,” says Nathalie San Fratello ’25, one of the organizers and designers. “The theme of play really opened up so many possibilities, and created a really fun, engaging experience for everyone.”

The energy in Cornerstone was electric as attendees were eager to see their peers’ designs hit the runway. The space had been completely reimagined, with a sleek catwalk cutting through the center and artful lighting setting the ambiance.

Models took to the catwalk in colorful, avant-garde designs that ranged from structured, architectural pieces to fluid works of art. Each look demonstrated the designer’s skill in bringing their playful concepts to life.

The evening brought many delightful pieces, starting with a collection of knit items featuring an array of innovative knitwear designs that pushed the boundaries of texture and form. Models showed off cozy, oversized sweaters alongside body-hugging, intricately patterned dresses, all exuding a sense of warmth and whimsy.

For the models, being part of the fashion show was an incredible opportunity to celebrate their peers’ creativity. “I’m so excited to model and be part of the show,” says Surakchya Risal ’25. “There’s insane talent at this school, and it is perfectly embodied by the fashion show.”

San Fratello shared that sentiment, talking about how much fun she had working with friends to bring her designs to life. “I got to hang out with friends and have them model for me, to show off my work.”

As the night went on, the designs continued to captivate, from flowy, ethereal looks to bold, eye-catching pieces. Each collection offered a different interpretation of play, showcasing the incredible range and creativity of CC’s designers.

The Native American Student Union (NASU) showcased a stunning collection of ribbon skirts that celebrated resilience, identity, and culture. The modern ribbon skirts represented styles that have evolved over centuries and across cultures.

The show also featured a dance piece, “Skygoing,” a joyful, energetic performance that had everyone on their feet. Models, designers, and attendees alike were all smiles, united in their appreciation for the talent and passion on display.

One of the designers closing out the evening, Ashtany Garcia ’27, presented a playful and imaginative collection that perfectly captured the theme of the show. Garcia drew inspiration from the joy of balloons and childhood phrases, using fabrics, beads, and even balloons themselves to create whimsical, lighthearted designs. The first part of her collection focused on the fun and carefree nature of balloons, while the second part incorporated nostalgic elements reminiscent of childhood.

For those lucky enough to attend, CC’s Annual Fashion Show was a night to remember, filled with inspiration, artistic expression, and a whole lot of fun. It was a testament to the power of fashion to bring people together and spread joy.

As the curtain closed on another successful show, one thing was clear: CC’s fashion community is thriving, and they know how to put on an unforgettable event. We can’t wait to see what playful, innovative designs they’ll dream up next year!
