Dr. Garcia Puente Awarded NSF Grant for Enumerative Geometry Workshop
Professor and co-chair of CC’s Mathematics and Computer Science Department Dr. Luis David Garcia Puente has been awarded $22,500 from the National Science Foundation to support a workshop on computational and applied enumerative geometry at the Fields Institute for Research in Mathematical Sciences in Toronto.

Students Awarded Davis Project for Peace to Turn Weapons into Tools
Kupai Marx ’24 and Kieran Blood ’24 have been awarded a Davis Project for Peace for their project on turning weapons into community-based art in Hawai’i. “We aim to support the mission of addressing gun violence and promoting peacebuilding through creative activism,” says Marx.

CC Refugee Alliance Connects CC Community with Local Refugees
The CC Refugee Alliance provides opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to help support local refugees and asylum seekers in Colorado Springs, as well as participate in advocacy campaigns to support immigrants across the country.

In her final week as president, L. Song Richardson made headlines when asked about how CC handled the pro-Palestinian encampment on campus. Her comments came at the Aspen Ideas Festival and appeared in the Jewish Insider, which was picked up by Yahoo News.
Panino’s Turns 50 and Celebrates Former CC Hockey Player, Coach
Details
The memory of former CC Hockey player and coach Tony Frasca ’52 was celebrated last weekend at Panino’s, the restaurant he founded. The pizzeria just turned 50! Frasca’s family runs the restaurant on Tejon. They shared historical CC Hockey photos with KXRM FOX 21’s “Loving Living Local” show.
