AI Discussion Remains in Full Force at Colorado College
Julia Fennell ’21
Like any college or university in 2023, CC is facing the challenges that come with AI and other emerging technologies. However, CC has an advantage. Students here are already taught how to be global citizens, how to have hard conversations while standing up for what’s right, and how to work to create a more just world. These lessons trickle into every aspect of CC life, including the discussions and use of AI.

Jonathan Mattes-Ritz ’04
I plugged the CC & AI essay prompt into ChatGPT. The first response was incomplete. This was AI’s second attempt.
“Artificial Intelligence: Shaping the Future of Colorado College and Beyond”
As we stand at the cusp of a technological revolution, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative force, reshaping the fabric of society, including the realms of education and daily life at Colorado College. Its current state and future potential are both awe-inspiring and challenging, warranting a thoughtful examination of its implications.
AI has evolved remarkably in recent years, unlocking capabilities that were once the realm of science fiction.
Work of the College Series:
Artificial Intelligence Panel
Although AI is not a new technology, the numerous ways that it has come to bear on higher education in just the past six months brings with it the opportunity to assess where we are and where we might be going. Please join us for a dynamic discussion and Q&A with Khaleel Gathers, Vice President & Chief Information Officer, Patrick Mundt, Lead Research Services Librarian, Chris Schact, Director of the Ruth Barton Writing Center, and Ryan Bañagale, Associate Professor and Director of the Crown Center for Teaching.
